Elevate hosts young creatives from Edinburgh Academy - June 2009

Elevate designs and personalises year books for two local schools

On Friday 12th June, Elevate had the pleasure of hosting 8 young scholars to see how their Personalised Yearbooks are designed and produced.  With the help from Elevate, the pupils in the Yearbook Committee, worked to design, edit and produce the yearbooks for their peers to take with them before the summer holidays, as a reminder of their time in the Junior School.

The pupils designed their own individual front covers, and had their favourite image or artwork from their time in Junior School included, making the yearbooks completely bespoke to each pupil.  All major decisions on content, images and editing were decided by the committee, with the guidance of teachers.

Headmaster Caroline Bashford wrote "Thank you, on behalf of the Junior Enterprise Group for a really interesting, informative and fun morning. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and for myself, I certainly learnt a lot about the design and print business.".

Edinburgh Academy are not the only ones to go ahead with the yearbooks - Mid Calder Primary School also saw the benefit.

Leanne Murray, teacher at Mid-Calder said "After the success of the yearbooks last year, parents and pupils have been very excited about receiving them again this year.  With the information in the yearbooks being so personal, the children are delighted that they can keep them to show friends and family in the future, and remember the good times they had at primary school".

The books were designed by Elevate's creative team, personalised using bespoke personalisation software and digitally printed.  They were then case-bound with the covers wrapped on to ensure they will be kept in pristine condition for years to come.
